⁵⁵ All the soldiers that Demetrius had discharged rallied to Antiochus and fought against Demetrius, who was routed and fled. ⁵⁶ Trypho captured the elephants and took control of Antioch.

⁵⁷ Then the young Antiochus wrote to Jonathan as follows: “I confirm you in the high priesthood, place you in authority over the four districts, and appoint you as one of the King’s Friends.”
